Dr. Benny Yee is an experienced general dentist at Simon Fraser Dental Centre, where he provides a comprehensive range of dental services to the SFU UniverCity community and beyond. A 2002 graduate of the University of Alberta, Dr. Yee is dedicated to staying at the forefront of dental technology, with expertise in Implant Dentistry, Laser Dentistry (LANAP, PIPS), and CEREC same-day crowns. Dr. Yee is Invisalign certified and a member of the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA).

For over 18 years, Dr. Yee has enjoyed serving and supporting the vibrant SFU UniverCity community, which he has been a part of since founding his practice in 2006. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Yee loves skiing, basketball, and badminton, but above all, values spending quality time with his family. He also supports various charitable causes, contributing to the well-being of the wider community.

Dr. Yi Yang is a board-certified periodontist and a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She completed her periodontics training at Loma Linda University in the USA. Dr. Yang also gained extensive research experience in dentistry after completing her PhD at the University of British Columbia, where she is now a clinical assistant professor and teaches part-time in the Faculty of Dentistry.

In addition, Dr. Yang lectures and teaches periodontal continuing education courses in China, where she was trained and worked as an oral surgeon. Her goal in practicing periodontics is to help patients save their own precious teeth whenever possible, assist them in regaining their chewing function by placing implants to replace missing teeth, and support them in maintaining their oral health and beautiful smiles.

Dr. John Margitay was born in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. He moved to Vancouver where he was raised and attended UBC where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. He graduated with Dr. Wilson Kwong from the UBC Faculty of Dentistry in 1989. Dr. Margitay is committed to excellence in all aspects of Dentistry and routinely attends various educational programs, study clubs and conferences to remain current with new advances and trends in Dentistry.

Dr. Patricia Sun is a dedicated general dentist at Simon Fraser Dental Centre, with a passion for providing tailored solutions to meet her patients’ needs. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of British Columbia and earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Sydney. Dr. Sun has a particular interest in oral surgery, implants, and aesthetic dentistry.
She values the problem-solving aspect of dentistry and cherishes the opportunity to watch and support her patients through different stages of life. Dr. Sun has undergone advanced training with the AAD MaxiCourse and Kois Institute.

Outside the practice, Dr. Sun enjoys golfing, traveling, and taking her dog on adventures. She is also an avid foodie, always on the lookout for the best restaurant recommendations. Dr. Sun is proud to be part of a family-focused practice and remains committed to delivering exceptional care.

Dr. Laurie Chang is a dedicated and passionate general dentist, with a particular focus on dental morphology and wax carving. She graduated from the University of British Columbia, where she developed a strong foundation in dental science and patient care.

Dr. Chang is deeply committed to patient education and preventative care. She often engages her patients in discussions about the importance of flossing and maintaining optimal oral health. Her approachable nature and ability to communicate complex dental concepts make her a favourite among patients.

As a member of several associations, including the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA), the Canadian Dental Society of British Columbia, the Vancity Dental Study Club, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), and the VDEC Prime Study Club, Dr. Chang remains actively involved in the dental community. She is also Invisalign certified, enabling her to offer patients advanced options for achieving their desired smiles.

In addition to her clinical and educational endeavours, Dr. Chang is a proud supporter of the BC Cancer Foundation, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the community and improving the lives of those affected by cancer.

Outside of work, Dr. Chang enjoys gardening, cooking, and unwinding with her favourite TV shows. She also shares her knowledge and enthusiasm for dentistry by teaching at UBC, inspiring the next generation of dental professionals. With her blend of expertise, compassion, and dedication, Dr. Laurie Chang is making a significant impact in the field of dentistry and beyond.
